In true St Paul’s tradition of creativity and spectacle, the College Quad was transformed into a breathtaking moon-scape for the 2025 Formal on Friday 17 October. Under the leadership of Formal Convener Heidi Best, a dedicated team spent an entire week turning the familiar sandstone setting into a scene from outer space—complete with a glowing geodome for dancing, orbiting planets, and a radiant sun atop the cocktail bar.

On the night, more than 750 guests stepped into this cosmic wonderland, greeted by (potential) astronauts, playful space invaders, and friendly aliens from “infinity and beyond.” The atmosphere was electric, with imaginative costumes, dazzling lights, and music that kept the dance floor alive well into the night.

The St Paul’s Formal has long been regarded as one of the most anticipated events on the university calendar, and this year’s theme raised the bar yet again. From concept to execution, the creativity and hard work of the organising team ensured an unforgettable evening for students, alumni, and friends of the College.
Congratulations to Heidi Best and the many contributors who made the 2025 Formal truly out of this world—cementing its reputation as one of the best university events of the year.
