Community

Community. St Paul’s is a community well beyond its City Rd gate at the heart of the University of Sydney. Paulines, their families and friends have for decades contributed brilliantly to contemporary society through all walks of life. At St Paul’s this is celebrated through the alumni programme and events which are open to the broader community.

Paulines. The oldest Paulines are in their 90s, and every decade since the Freshers of 1955 is well represented in the Old Pauline ranks. A large Back-to-Paul’s reunion is organised annually by the St Paul’s College Union and smaller events are organised by alumni off-site or at College from time to time.

The youngest Paulines are our 2025 Freshers who, along with our seniors and Graduate House members, form the current Pauline community.

Many Paulines live in the Sydney metro area but a large number can be found all over Australia, the UK, USA, New Zealand, Canada, China, Japan and further afield.

Advancing the Legacy of St Paul’s College

Since its founding, St Paul’s College has aspired to build a lasting endowment to support scholarships, fellowships, and the “paraphernalia of intellectual enterprise,” as founder Sir Alfred Stephen envisioned.

This dream endured through gold rushes, world wars, and economic downturns—kept alive by generations of Paulines. In the 1970s, it became a reality with the creation of the St Paul’s College Foundation, led by Lloyd Waddy, Robert Albert, and John Lehane, alongside a dedicated group of alumni. Their vision established a perpetual fund to support the College for generations to come.

Today, St Paul’s thrives—academically, culturally, and communally. With a strong academic record, vibrant student life, and a flourishing arts program, the College continues to offer a transformative experience.

As we honour the legacy of those who built the Foundation, we invite you to help sustain it. Your support ensures that St Paul’s remains a place of excellence, opportunity, and tradition—accessible to the most promising students, regardless of background.
