Frank Lane Ritchie, of Bega, who was killed at Lone Pine on August 9th, 1915, left Sydney on March 17th, 1915, as second lieutenant in charge of the 4th Reinforcements to the 4th Battalion. He was later promoted, and during the Lone Pine Charge was twice wounded, but on each occasion returned to duty.
