LIBRARY AND IT

Libraries

  • The Cannington Law Library has a comprehensive selection of the most frequently consulted Law Reports, Digests and Statute Law - it is one of the best resources of its kind on campus outside the Law School.  The Cannington Law Librarian is responsible, with the Mansfield Librarian, the Mansfield Library Scholar and the lawyers in the Senior Common Room, for holdings in this area.
  • The Mansfield Library, necessarily a complement to the main University libraries, consists of a number of discrete areas: general collection; reference and exam papers; fiction; reserve collection of current textbooks; periodicals (covering a broad range of subject-matter and opinion)
  • Most books (including law reports) are available for loan and the Library is accessible to all students on a 24-hour basis. The Mansfield Librarian, Ms Virginia Pursell, is available for consultation on Wednesdays.  The Mansfield Library Scholar works with the Librarian, the Senior Tutor, the Area Tutors and the Senior Common Room in coordinating the Library needs of the student community.  The Mansfield Library Scholar for 2011 is Michael Falk.

Computer Facilities

  • St Paul's has its own Local Area Network, allowing men to share files and make use of the Computer Room printer. Access to the LAN, the University Intranet and the Internet is via the network connection in each room.
  • File backup is provided through the use of the LAN fileserver, to ensure important documents are not lost.
  • Computers must be equipped with an Ethernet card (modem access is not possible) and must run virus software provided by the College.
  • 8 computers in the Computer Room are connected to the College's network and require users to log-on using their College user name and PIN.
  • Men can access the network printers (colour as well as black and white) from any computer connected to the network.
  • Scanning facilities are provided.

The College Archives are also housed in the Mansfield Library.
